Nintendo DS Lite

You_are_a_cunt

Yeah, I know. I said I would never touch Nintendo crap ever.

Well, I have an offer on my table and I have no idea if I should take it or not. Currently considering it but I wanted some extra input.

Mint condition Nintendo DS Lite for $25

When I say mint condition I mean it's in PERFECT condition, it comes with all the accessories (charger, headphones, stylus, a couple of protective cases) and a card that (apparently) has about 50 games (wut).

Except for a couple of Pokemon games, Animal Crossing, Ni No Kuni and a couple of FF games, are there any other GOOD games that would justify me buying this?

I've also got a backlog of indie games for the DS/DS lite that I've wanted to take a look at for a while now, but I have no idea how you actually transfer them onto the DS/DS card. Would like some info on that aswell <_<

A second offer popped up, for a PSP this time. Also mint condition, all accessories and whatnot

If I were to only get one of them, which would prove to be a better pick? Both game-wise and feature-wise

Certainly worth it, it's the best Nintendo DS there is. And only for Pokemon it's already worth it.

yeah, I've wanted to play the Pokemon games so bad ever since the whole Twitch Plays Pokemon thing.

Worth it.

Just be sure the touchscreen looks good and the directional buttons work good.

There are MANY great DS games, including some awesome platformers, RPG's and more.

Some games I would recommend are: the Mario vs. Donkey kong series (I like the first one of DS better than number 2.), New Super Mario Bros., the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series, the main series Pokemon games, the Zelda games (phantom hourglass and spirit tracks) and much more.

You can also play GBA games on the thing.

Are you talking about how you have DS roms  and want to play those? You would have to get some flash card for the thing, which are illegal in some places. I am talking about R4, DSTT or EDGE carts. Some people sell those second hand now too..

(otherwise you can play those on an emulator like DeSuMe too).

If you have any more questions about the DS, be sure to ask. It's one of my favorite handhelds ever :)

For 25$? Grab it now. There are plenty of great games for it, too - pokemon is one, but there are a lot of good mario titles too, like new super mario bros, super mario 64 etc, not to mention gba retrocompatibility.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

You could probably transfer your roms onto the card with the 50 games via a micro sd card

the handled been around since 2006

the amount of good quality games is great

if you have R4 or similar device, buying games is optional.

PSP afaik even easier as is only require soft mod

both systems are homebrew heaven

I love DS mainly because the amount of JRPG games

but even until now, I still don't like pokemon from any series or timeline

so I don't understand the HYPE of pokemon machine because there are better GEMS for both system (or any system)

Hm, looking into R4/DSTT/EDGE carts.

Just to make it clear: if there are games worth my precious coin, I'll just buy them.

Yes, I do have a few ROMs from indie devs (most of them never got published or are just passion projects of sorts) which are relevant to my interests, so I'd like to have the option to play them aswell. They don't seem to be illegal here, so it shouldn't be an issue. Just need to find one that doesn't cost more than I pay for the actual handheld :D

Honestly, I'd just buy both of them and postpone my HTPC (I don't have a third monitor right now so it would just be sitting on a storage rack gathering dust until I get one).

TBH the PSP isn't my first choice of a handheld PS console (I'd honestly love to have a PS Vita instead, since I want to replay Persona 4 Golden (never actually got to finish it. It's retardedly long), but a used PS Vita costs more than the DS Lite AND PSP combined.

So, more info on the PSP: apparently it's softmoded aswell.

Unfortunately I only have pictures of the handhelds but they seem to be in excellent quality and in original packaging, which is a plus.

The PSP is about $40 which doesn't seem to be that much, imo

Just check some sites where people can sell stuff (like Craigslist or ebay, but the version from where you live)

Yesterday saw an ad on a website for 3 DS games. Or actually just 2 games and an EDGE cart, for 10 euros.

I get all my cheap DS games from flea markets and thrift shops.

Been looking into PSP's as well, but it just depends on what kind of games you want. PSP has more mature titles, better RPG's and Sony's first party.

The DS on the other hand has many cool 2D platformers, also a lot of RPG's, Nintendo's first party and you can play GBA games on it too.

To be honest I just want something to kill time at work with, since it's been a slow couple of weeks now and it doesn't seem to be getting any better soon.

Plus it would be great to have something to take my mind off stuff when I go visit my parents (3h train ride that I've been on thousands of times at this point)

I'm looking at games for both of them and there are quite a few titles that I'd definitely play

Well, I found an R4i/8Gb mSDHC bundle for ~$15 from a local seller.

Also found HEAPS of games for the DS Lite, prices range from $2 to $10 and a few game bundles (30-40+ games) for around $50

I'm amazed how many people are selling DS games <_<
