and use WD Red instead of black

 

Black will run way hotter even with active cooling

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

What are you going to use the drive for? WD Black is a great performance drive and you'd need an enclosure with a USB3.0 or faster connection, 3.5" form factor and external power source in order to fully utilize the speed of the drive. 
The difference between the enclosures shouldn't be that noticeable so I'd look for one with good reviews and comments.
 
I wouldn't use WD Red as its NAS/RAID features won't be utilized and it'll work jsut as a regular WD Green. WD Black's heat output shouldn't be a problem when used in an enclosure.

Well, having a USB3.0 connection pretty much allows the HDD to work at its maximum speed and the games will be affected only for their loading times. I'd say pretty much any external drive with a good USB3.0 connection would do the job. :) For a console drive, I would say that WD Black should be the more proper choice.
