December 2015 Gaming PC Build (First Timer)

Go to solution Solved by Praesi,

Alright well I'll save up for a better monitor, thanks for the recommendation!

Good Choice. Its 100% worth it.

Hey guys, I came here to get some advice on my new PC build. Firstly, I'm planning on using it for gaming, general work, and some media stuff with premiere pro and photoshop. Also, I'm building this in Australia and my budget is at $3000 AUD.

Here's the list of components I've chosen (and here's the link to the PC Part Picker list https://au.pcpartpicker.com/parts/partlist/):

- Intel i7 4790K @ 4GHz

- Corsair H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU cooler

- MSI Z97-SLI Krait Edition Motherboard

- EVGA Geforce GTX 980 Ti 6GB Superclocked+ AXC2.0 whatever (or the Sea Hawk MSI/Corsair thing when it comes out)

- Corsair Vengeance WHITE 16GB DDR3-1600 memory

- Samsung 850 EVO 120GB SSD

- Seagate Barracude 1TB 7200RPM HDD

- Asus disc drive that's about 20 bucks

- Corsair RM 750W 80+ Gold Power Supply

- Corsair 760T White ATX Full Tower Case

- Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste

- Windows 8.1 or 10 or something

- Bitfenix green led fans 120mm

So I'm here to get some advice, so feel free to offer up changes or recommendations. Thanks!

Welcome.

Replace the RM PSU with a RMi.

That will be a very fast PC.

Are you new to building or to PC Gaming in general?

The link is incorrect.

Use the permalink on your parts list page or alternatively you can use the bbcode markup tool that is next to the permalink for easy forum formatting.

Woops shit sorry I'll put it here http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/PMDmMp

I'm new to building; I've never built a PC before but I fully intend to do so. I am already a gamer, but I've been using crappy laptops to game for like 4 years and it's time for an upgrade.

Also, what's the difference between the RM750 and the RM750i?

RMi use only high quality parts, has better performance management and is absolutly silent.

Another thing, what Monitor do you have? People always buy good hardware but forget about a good Display. With that PC you need 1440p IPS 144hz. Anything below would be waste!

I planned on using the Asus VX228H 60hz 21.5" because I wanted to allocate almost all of my money on the system itself. Although if I should be getting a different, better monitor then I'll see if I can throw more money at the budget so that I can afford something better. What monitor would you recommend to get the job done (preferably something on the lower price range)?

With this Monitor you will waste 70% of your Systems Power and will not benefit from that Graphicscard..

Acer xb270hu, that´s what you need. For a badass PC you need a badass Display.

End of this Year some more IPS Gsync Displays should be released. Atm the xb270hu is the best you can have.

27"+ IPS 1440p 144hz Gsync. That are the Specs for you.

It´s a difference between Night and Day.
