hello guys, i just upgraded my rams to 8gb ram today, but the system still using high amount of my pagefile, while playing i got my pagefile usage around 4GB and maybe 6Gb, but the RAM usage is between 3Gb and 4Gb .. idk what should i do to increase the RAM usage and decrease the pagefile usage, i tried to decrease it from the system itself to 2Gb or even 1Gb, and the pagefile still uses more than the limit that i chose.
i watch the pagefile usage by msi afterburner and it goes up to 4GB~6GB even if the limit is 1GB or whatever.
i tried to disable the pagefile, but the msi afterburner still showin me pagefile usage ! lol
any solution here?

when i use CATzilla, they always reduce/remove the pagefile on 8GB and SSD.

the usual pagefile size is 3072MB and it always seems to work. on 16GB, they toss

the pagefile. if using a HDD, then you'll need a wide birth of cache.

im using a HDD, what should i do now to get my system use at least 6Gb of the 8GB? and what about the msi afterburner? why it reads the pagefile above the specific limit ? for example the pagefile limit is 1.5GB, the msi afterburner reads it always above 2GB . up to 6Gb lol. so what should i do

i might be wrong, but i believe if using HDD, the pagefile size is 1.5 times the

size of the RAM. your 8GB RAM using a HDD should be 12288MB max/4096MB min.

if using 2 HDD, then use the second drive (instead of primary) for pagefile location.

ok well i got you, but i dun wanna use any pagefile because it makes my pc slower specially in games, so if i decrease it to 2GB of example, it keeps goes up to 4~6GB no matter what i did, even if i turn it off.. is there's a solution to completely turn it off?!

Windows manages your page file intelligently and it does a very good job of it. It's not trying to put important data that you need to process right now into your page file, it's usually a storage space for lower priority data. It is normal that Windows will continue to use your page file to some degree no matter how much physical memory you have.

If you're having performance problems, there are a thousand other possibilities that are more likely explanations. Leave your page file alone. :P

even if i just turned it off, the system keeps using it? O.o

i wanna decrease it because i get performance problems such as some issues to load the map in gamming ..etc once that happens i find my ram usage around 3.5 4 GB and the pagefile is 6.2GB ! lol sorry but i dont get the point of adding more rams if the system will still use pagefile more than the rams.

Depends on your work load, if you have 8GB of ram and never use it all you could get away without having one. The rule is ram size + 1MB. If you have an ssd and want to limit writes tot he drive you can move it to another.

should i disable it? i use the pc for games

no dont disable it(i do a few things with my computer that i dont recommend). generally keep it about double the amount of ram you have, or let it manage itself.  also if you're using an ssd as your boot drive, i suggest setting the pagefile to store itself on your hdd instead.

I wouldn't recommend disabling it with only 8 GB. Even if you had enough to ensure it was safe to have it disabled in all cases, it doesn't make your system faster to have it disabled. At best it does nothing, and at worst it could cause hard crashes if you run out of memory.

Depending on how your PC's internal drives are set up, I'd either allow Windows to automatically manage it (if you have only one drive), or manually place it on the drive of your choosing. I don't know if there's actually a magic number that it should be, but I'd say 8–16 GB is plenty. The only reason to set it lower would be to save disk space.
