Hey guys!

 

So im building myself a PFsence router and firewall, i will be using this type of case:

can someon=e refer me to a server rack, small enought to fit on a desk, but not too deep as a standard rack, just deep enough for this case and a Switch

For this use I'd suggest looking at audio equipment racks. The width and hole spacing is identical for IT and audio racks. You can get two post racks meant to use on stage and put that on your desk.

Something like this or this should fit your needs. Generally look for a server rack that's 6U and 19" width. The 600mm depth is the smallest one for 19", I think..

I made mine out of wood and holds 2 computers in rack mounted cases and 3 switches and all of my studio rack mounted equipment and costed me about $30 for wood and metal to make it :)

Well actually, there is also 10" which is commonly used for network equipment outdoors and sometime indoors. They will usually fit patch panels, media converters, switches and other gear. Wall mount only.

 

Oh that's interesting, I have only seen 19" ones in my 2 years of networking and audio work lol :P Thanks for letting me know :D
