So I recently got a new Corsair 350D case for my gaming PC and it failed to even boot in that case. I transferred by parts back to my old case and it was sort of working, as it would boot and then stop about 3 seconds later. It would also beep right after I booted the system, which I hadn't heard from my PC before.

My system specs:

Motherboard: IMP87-MP

CPU: Intel i5-4590

Memory: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8gb) DDR3 PC3-12800 (I believe)

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 750 Ti

PSU: Stock HP 300W

Cooling: Stock HP air cooling

HDD: 1Tb Western Blue

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

Also please note that I'm fairly new to PC building. I know the basics and that's pretty much it.

The beep is normal - if only 1 short beep - everything is fine.

Did you install the brass stand-offs of the motherboard into the new case?

That's one sketchy ass PSU, but if it just keeps beeping or it won't boot I think it's a fried mobo.

It didn't come with any, as I got the case from a friend. His mobo was even shittier than mine, and he wasn't using standoffs and his was still able to boot and work. Can I get standoffs somewhere?

2 things - standoffs come with motherboards, not cases - you should transfer yours

if no standoffs are present - the motherboard will short circuit and fail to start or die at worst

Ok thanks, my motherboard is also a potato and the case didn't really have any. I probably lost them while transferring to the 350D. I'll buy some. Also while I was removing my CPU cooler for ease of transport, as the old case had an overhanging metal part for the HDD, I accidentally removed some of the thermal compound. Just like 10-20% of it though. Should I get more?
