PC restarting while gaming

anuj01

I made a new build about 6 months ago. There is absolutely no problem if I work on my computer even for 48 hours, but when I start any game, it either works for some time and restarts or it restarts as soon as the game opens. I can't find it if is a software problem or hardware problem.

restarts how? specs? relevant error messages or screens? behavior? steps you've taken to diagnose the problem? relevant screen caps or videos?

check the windows event log.  It may have some information about why your PC is doing that.

I don't think so, because earlier I having 8.1 pro. I had the issue then also.

Have you at all overclocked your CPU or GPU?

CPU is not overclocked but the gtx 960 was factory overclocked. Today I ran CPU and gpu stress test using msi komustor, the PC restarted jast 5-6 seconds after the test.

Hmmmm, might be a faulty power supply bit risky to continue using it until it's fully checked, out in my opinion. But to be honest I am certainly no expert in this field xD

restarts how?

Does it do the standard windows restart, does it power down, does it bluescreen, does it just go black? like what happens exactly, from the second it begins to fail, until it posts?

I don't know a whole lot, but i'd have to say probably something with the power supply

it depends on HOW its shutting down, this is important information here. if it just goes black, i would agree power supply.

My PC turns up normally, but as soon as any gpu intensive program is run, the screen goes black, all the cabinet fans stop and the start back normally within seconds.

Today I ran few more stress tests on ram, CPU and gpu separately. PC was running well during CPU and ram tests at full stress. But as soon as I started the gpu stress test, the PC restarted.

To check if my gpu is faulty or not, I removed the gpu and installed back the Intel HD driver. And on running the test, PC restarted again only during gpu stress test

PSU isn't supplying enough power.

The voltages may be fine but when the system tries to draw more WATS than the PSU can support this happens.
