Mouseover not working

I currently own a Mad Catz Cyborg RAT 9 mouse, running OSX on a hackintosh and all of a sudden I cannot mouseover things, or hover. The scroll and tracking work properly, and the back and forward buttons do not. I do not think that it is something to do with the mouse because it tracks fine, but does not hover- like when you are selecting a song in spotify and it turns a darker grey then it already was when you mous over it. This is a problem throughout the entire OS.

Have you tried a different mouse to see if it has the same problems? MadCatz mice are known to have a low build quality compared to other mice, but I haven't heard too much horror stories about the R.A.T. 9.
