Background noise problem

I have a blue snowball mic and it has a lot of background noise and i was wondering if there is a good way that i can get rid of the background noise that doesn't mess with the quality of the sound.

Well, I have the Blue Yeti. First you need to make sure there are no sources of noise. Air conditioner, washing machine, outside noise. Your computer and the distance to the mic can be a big factor. I don't know if the Blue Snowball has cardioid settings, but if it does set it to that. That means it will attempt to only pic up noise it is facing at. Finally, the most important part. Go into your playback devices and select properties of the Blue Snowball. Click on listen to this device and just adjust the volume in the other tab until it sounds good. I have my Blue Yeti set to 70, BUT some programs (Skype maybe?) tend to change my setting back to 100.

Try using NoiseGator. It doesn't remove the noise, but noise is less noticeable when you're talking.
