Animation making software question

Hello there,

I recently started trying to make some basic animations (get a photoshop image and make it move) in Adobe Flash, but I was wondering if there is a more suitable program, because as far as I know it is designed for app making and I had difficulties with sound. It served me well for an animation but I think there may be better alternatives. I have heard video creators using Sony Vegas, Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere for video editing but what should I be using for this?
