Wait people still watch tv, I thought everyone was streaming by now  :P .

But seriously tv's only negative side affect is inactivity unless you have a treadmill in front of it

Bah, as long as you are able to observe media with a critical eye it doesn't matter.

Actually nowadays people say that about mobile phones, in the past it was TV that was making people "dumb" and "unhealthy" and before that it was just "nerds" and average people reading "crap" books and literature vs real literature and so on and so forth.

There's thousands of ways people can live sedentary and isolated lifestyles that have nothing to do with TVs or the internet or anything. This are just tools, it's people's choices and personalities that dictate their lifestyles and nothing else.

That's actually how it works. Wait... What? Some of it is BS, but the marketing campaigning is legitimate.

No

Time spent watching television is similar to being asleep

Citation needed

another hour you’re not making the most of your life.

There's nothing wrong with relaxing

so choose carefully what you decide to spend your time watching

What does this have to do with me not watching TV again?

All of this is affecting your outlook on life and the way you see the world.

Citation needed

It’s filled with beautiful people doing amazing things and having great adventures every show.

Life is never going to be like a TV show

That's called fiction

The messages within television imply on a regular basis that we’re not pretty/smart/funny enough.

Citation needed

Make no mistake that there is only one reason why television exists, and that is to sell products.

You mean that there is one reason why it still exists, it's not the sole reason for its overall existence though.

No one is producing TV shows because they want to create great art.

Citation needed

Every single part of every single TV program is designed to keep you in front of the TV and prepped to buy the advertised products through traditional advertising or product placements.

Saying ever single part is quite the exaggeration

Television is designed to make you feel bad so you will buy products that make you feel better.

Not all television

We lose our self control and cannot turn off the television even though we may want to.

That's a sign that you're either watching a good show or your life is crap, you get the same stuff with books and video games, I don't get why you're targeting TV in particular.

There is a lot of research showing the negative effects on a child’s development due to both inactivity and the influence of television.

Then cite it

Is It Really Relaxing?

Yes

I also get to relax when I’m out at a kung fu or dance class.

That's not relaxation, that's enjoyment, they're quite different. You're still working your muscles quite alot in both those activities.

I also get to relax when reading a book, listening to uplifting audio or even watching uplifting videos (like TED talks or educational materials).

Most of your arguments could also be applied to these things

Conclusion:

This article is written like a 15 year old's GCSE coursework. There's no reason to take anything this article says seriously
