Will getting an HDMI for my HDTV increase response time and decrease delay when gaming?

TV: http://www.amazon.com/VIZIO-E32h-C1-32-Inch-720p-Smart/dp/B00SMBF3TM

So far, I am playing 30fps on gta V online on my ps3 but there are moments where the frames get very very choppy and causes a delayed reaction in my game...Will getting an HDMI reduce the delay in my reaction in my game?

Also the lag input for my vizio smart tv is 30 ms

wait... if you're not using hdmi now, the hell are you using?

and the inut latency on TVs is very TV dependant and very port dependant as well.

might also just be your PS3 not being all that great at running GTA V

afaik not really, it'll make the picture look better, but the problem is your ps3 not the cable - although i could be wrong xD

To be honest in console, 30ms isn't even that bad. I played comp PS3 GB's in 2013 fine on a 55' Inch tv with 50ms response and especially in a game like GTA 5, blow shit up and have fun! But it may help getting a smaller monitor to make your eyes have to look at less area.

TVs naturally don't have great response times, mostly because it's not a priority when consuming content rather than gaming. Consoles use fairly analogue controls, so the latency isn't that important, but in PC gaming, where quick response times are very advantageous a lot of the time, TVs are not the best to use.

Probably wrong unless you are talking about the ps3 adding more lag input in the TV...yes then that is possible

If you are also talking about the ps3 being locked 30fps regardless of using hdmi or not...Then that is also a possibility....Depends on what you actually mean

To respond to both of these...Don't consoles increase the input lag or the delay on HDTVs compared to consoles?

It's possible but unlikely. I don't know anything about console lag (frankly I don't follow them at all because... consoles)

The wireless controllers do increase latency a bit.

you say "the fames get choppy" i highly doubt thats the cable causing the problem, or your tv, its more then likely the ps3 itself, is what i meant..  the hdmi cable wont increase the framerate of the game, or change your response time to anything noticeable afaik

Ah I see...I think GTA is probably too intensive for the ps3 but at the same time I am playing on a composite cable that only supports 30fps

if its dropping below 30fps and getting choppy, not much you can do there. Also in theory the ps3 should run worse once it is outputting a high definition video instead of a standard definition video because I dont think the ps3 uses a scaler chip like the 360 does. Which the scaler chip in the 360 means it always renders the same resolution based on the game no matter what, then it upscales or downscales it to the proper resolution of the tv/monitor.

Unfortunately, I have to take this with a grain of salt......Since its just a theory but its seems reasonable but we will see when get an hdmi
