As subject says, what is the quietest keyboard? Forget mechanical, I know that's a no-go, plus I'm not a fan anyway to be honest... I've always preferred the laptop chiclet style and that's obviously going to be quieter. I've just had to return the Razer Deathstalker (chiclet style) as that was too noisy for me, so I guess I am quite fussy about the audibility of the keys. The Logitech K800 looks like it would be better, as does the Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Desktop. Any suggestions? Needs to have a numpad, no need for wireless but no problem if it is. Quiet operation is the most important thing, but obviously I don't want it cheap feeling, so the Logitech and MS seem like they would be OK in that regard.

this one does not create any noise at all. no but seriously any membrane keyboard should be relatively quiet

The keyboard on my Latitude E4300 and my ProSignia 165 are both fairly quiet, but I don't think you want an old laptop for a keyboard.

My vote has to go out to my grandma's HP keyboard or the K400r/K800/thatotherbacklitLogitechKeyboard. Definitely not one of the old Dell QuietKey keyboards. They're nice and clicky. :D

If you want quite DO NOT GET A MECHANICAL

The fuck? Everything but blues are pretty quiet... Get some o-rings and a keyboard with reds and it's like typing on a kitten.

No I tried a brown switch Corsair with rubber rings added, and it was still too loud. I've used laptops too much to get used to it. Logitech membrane ones seem to be amongst the quietest, although the MS Designer Bluetooth gets solid reviews, albeit not being backlit and somewhat basic layout. It's quite expensive on their website but can be got much cheaper elsewhere. I've no interest in the mouse though, so annoying I'd be paying for that.

For anyone who's interested, I went ahead and bought the MS Designer Bluetooth off Amazon to check it out for myself and I must say I'm VERY impressed. It is small, and looks rather diddy on my desk, but it has a very high quality feel to it and is just the right level of quiet for my needs. The fact it's wireless is a bonus, less clutter. So if anyone is in the same position as me, I can highly recommend it. :)
