power saving on Desktop: switching from dedicated to integrated graphics

TheLamb

Hi.

I got myself a beefy desktop a year ago and I am starting to be confident enought to tinker a bit with it.

I was wandering if desktops could support power saving mesures that we usually see in laptops like the capability of using the dedicated or integrated grapics chip according to the need of the user.

If there is not such a thing how hard would it be to implement it?

I am sure that graphics card with fanless mode will make this implementation look ridiculous from a noise and power comsumption point of view but there are still out there cards with no such feature.

thanks for your time.
