This is my current build

FX-8350

8Gb RAM

AMD 7850

Asrock 990FX extreme 3

The rig works well for the stuff I'm doing now, mainly gaming vanilla WoW, Crusader Kings II and Skyrim, it can max all of them so I haven't got any reason to upgrade. However I'm very hyped for Starcitizen and unfortunately I can't get it past 20-30fps on the lowest settings. So I'm wondering if I should just get a much better graphics card, or split it between a graphics card and an intel processor and motherboard. How much will the FX-8350 bottleneck the expensive graphics card? I've heard that Starcitizen is very CPU intensive, the recommended system specs doesn't even mention AMD.
I prefer to use AMD because I like to root for the underdog, but since they don't really have any answer to Intel I guess I have to go that way.

The FX8350 is fine maybe look at getting a different GPU my Media PC has the FX8320E and it games fine using a GTX770 in that machine at the moment and even 1440p I get high FPS so maybe consider a GTX970 or R9 390X, I use to have a 3770k and I noticed very little difference going from a i7 to a FX8320E, Unless your going to be doing a lot of rendering then an intel might make more sense

EDIT: Also I wouldn't worry too much about what minimum requirements say they usually say way more than is really needed I have seen games that say they require quad core cpu's minimum playing on laptop dual cores without any problems.

Custom PC:

Intel Core i7 5960X GTX1080 Strix | 64gb 2400mhz DDR4 Corsair Vengeance Ram | Samsung S951 256gb M.2 | 4TB WD Blue SSHD | EVGA Supernova G2 1300watt PSU | Acer XB270HU | Corsair K95 RGB | Corsair M65 RGB |
