Okay guys so I'm building my grandma a new computer and I started by using her old computer (which has windows 7) to update to windows 10, then do a clean install on the new SSD. Probelm is, I left it overnight and I Think it failed or something. now the old HP won't startup and the diagnostic can't fix it. sooo I know I can install windows 10 on the new one without the key, but how could I get that Windows Key back? and also, how could I transfer over the other pictures and files from that old computer? am, I screwed?

A live Linux install should be able to get the files back off. It can probably also get the registry key of the license of Windows with some know how (Not that I have that know how though).
