Im buying a genuine oem battery that is brand new in the package. It was manufactured on 2014/05. Will the battery have degraded by a sogificant amount from then till now?

depends on the conditions it was stored in

Lets say good conditions that suit the battery, and then stored in a back room for a few months after that

Most batteries as long as they are kept at about 50% charge or at least above the safe lower limit of their charge will be good just sitting in a properly temperature controlled room for a couple of years. The voltage will slowly start to drop so after a certain period of time they can just go bad once they drop past that lower limit for too long.
