So im stuck.....

I've been looking at monitors for a really long time now..... Like a year or two and so much has changed and so many new great things have come but I can't find a good monitor for my set-up/future set-ups.

So I like so many things about all kinds of different monitors.

I like:

-1440p

-75 - 144hz

-G-Sync

-Ultra-wide's

-Curved

-IPS

-1ms response times

Buuuuuuuut, I run a Msi 780 lightning. Nothing ground breaking.

So I'm looking for some help because I've got some extra money and I'd like to spend it on new monitor.

At the current time I'm run a really old 1650x1050 samsung dinosaur.

The closest things that I've found to perfection for my liking is either:

-Asus ROG Swift

or

-Acer XR ultra wide curved montior

But I've been told that my GPU wont keep up with those so I'm stuck.

If anyone has an idea what a good monitor would be within a $600 budget that would be cool beans!

Anything is better than nothing,

Thanks

I would actually get a used 780 for SLI and then worry about the monitor. The 75 to 144Hz range is pretty demanding. Especially for 1440p.

Still, that's just my opinion. The prices of used 780s are cheaper now as well. I think I saw one sell for 200 bucks.

So you're torn between a 3440x1440 and 2560x1440 144Hz?

I'd recommend saving your money until you can afford a new GPU and monitor; that way you'll end up with the newest tech and also be able to run it decently. If you end up getting a 1440p 144Hz monitor you'd never be able to make use of the 144fps and on the ultrawide side, 3440x1440 would probably leave you with undesirable performance.

1300$ Acer x34 - 34inch, IPS, 3440x1440, 100hz + gsync

1300$ Asus pg348q - 34inch, IPS, 3440x1440, 100hz + gsync

Here you go, these two tick all the boxes, and max out displayport 1.2.

Expensive, no?

Heres the list of the only monitors you should touch for gaming:

I wonder if the buzz of G-sync/Free-sync nowadays mainly due to most of the game in the market are being FPS kind of game.

There used to be less of concern when it comes to refresh rate, response time, input lag, etc couple years ago, especially during the early days the transition from CRT to LCD monitors.

Just my opinion: I think the G-sync/Free-sync and above-60 Hz refresh rate is simply a concern when the games you mainly play are FPS type.

Lol, I am torn too..except I have an Asus PB278Q 2k display sitting in my living room, in the amazon shipping box. I have been staring at this cardboard for 4 hours deciding if I should return it and get a 144hz 1080p display instead. GUAH! WHY?!
