so i have been looking at guitars to get while saving up the money and was wondering what coil tap is???

and is it worth the extra $100 like on this: Amazon.com: Yamaha Pacifica Series PAC112V Electric Guitar; Black: Musical Instruments

I'm curious if they actually mean coil tap or coil split, a lot of people get that mixed up, and with a humbucker, I'd bet its more likely a coil split. don't really know why you'd want a coil tap with a humbucker in the bridge.

EDIT: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/yamaha-pac112v-electric-guitar#productDetail

It is a coil split. what that does is disable a coil on the humbucker to make it sound like a single coil. I like coil split sounds, but you could mod a cheaper guitar for coil split for less money, if you're into that. If you're not comfortable with a soldering iron and really want the coil split sound, then go for it. either way, you can't go wrong with a pacifica.

Old shit no one cares about but me.
