Hi

I'm looking for a 8 port gigabit switch preferable unmanaged.

I was looking at some Netgear stuff.

Its for a home network but would like gigabit because there always will be a NAS and 2-3 computers using it.

Also if you suggest any routers that work well with it please say it.

Thanks

You are asking for two different things. You can get an unmanaged gigabit switch, and being a switch it wouldn't have any wireless functionality at all. You can also get an access point, which might only have one port to connect to the network, or might also have a builtin gigabit switch. Or you could get a router, which has an AP and a switch built in, and set it to function as an AP (the switch aspect would continue working unless you set it to Bridge mode).

Looking to buy GTX690, other multi-GPU cards, or single-slot graphics cards:

I know but I'm using the stock sky modem with terrible WiFi and my house is full of all mobile devices and my gaming rig.

So....

WiFi modems provided by ISPs suck the balls most of the time. You should have no problem with wired connections though.

Our Shaw WiFi Modem where I live has wireless issues but runs wired connections fine. You switch could plug into that directly.

Otherwise I recommend getting an actual router if you are trying to fix performance issues over WiFi.

Laptop: Lenovo Yoga 7i (16") 82UF0015US (i7-12700H, 16GB/2TB RAM/SSD, A370M GPU) Tablet: Lenovo Tab Plus (256GB)
Camera: Canon M6 Mark II | Canon Rebel T1i (500D) | Canon SX280 Music: Spotify Premium (CIRCA '08)

AIO's are usually pretty... meh. When you think about it, a custom made piece of hardware that contains the networking functionality of 5 different devices needing its own custom firmware, software, GUI and more. It's a wonder they work as well as they do for only being $100 or so.

I need a 8 port switch because any built in switch wont have enough ports

also a new router because my current one sucks balls

As long as its your balls its sucking, i would consider it a + ;)

I would pay a bit extra and get a managed switch like the d-link 1210-10

And for the router I would get an Ubiquiti edgerouter or an Asus AC66U if you need wifi built in.

Your brand preference is totally up to you.

I do not like netgear products and I really dislike their support (both customer service and product support, firmwares etc).

My advice is:

Get a d-link, a cisco, ubiquiti, juniper or hp procurve switch instead :)

Your first link says "Desktop switch" which is a pretty good indicator that they don't include rackmounting hardware. Plus that doesn't look nearly wide enough to span across a rack to me. I have seen some narrow switches from Dlink and Netgear that have extra wide rackmounting tabs available for aftermarket purchase, but it ends up being about the same cost to get one that they design to put in a rack and includes the hardware. Or you can just buy a cheak rackmount shelf, those are always handy anyway.
