Chromebook before getting a surface pro 4

Hi, I'm going back to uni in a week and was hoping to get a surface pro 4, unfortunately the only news about it is a possible reveal in October and was thinking that I should get a replacement in the mean time.

My question is, what is the best chromebook for around £250-£300?

hp stream is a windows pc that cheaper than most of the chromebooks (and it doesnt run chrome os so you can actually do stuff on it)

any laptop running windows under 300$ is not worth it.

it will be to sluggish to do anything. under 300$ go chromebook. 300-500 is meh maybe u can find a deal.

Beast Desktop + chromebook is way to go.

Yup. Speaking from experience (minus the Beast Desktop. Wouldn't exactly call mine beast, tbh, thanks to the 8350). Borrowed a friend's Chromebook for a few weeks while my laptop was in the show for cosmetic repairs, and it was so much nicer, imo. All I used my laptop for was research. 100% online use. Worked flawlessly for me.

my (high) school gave us all chromebooks. 

so thats really what got me hooked

the chromebooks ive seen (the grey samsung one dont remember model) has a really bad screen, keyboard, and trackpad

and its really laggy when watching youtube in anything above 480p

mine runs 4k 60fps no lag...

with the nivida tegra chip

keyboard is meh

trackpad is nice

screen is 

15-17 inch idk

the only thing i like about the chromebook i used was being able to bend the screen to about 160 degrees
