Hi there,

So heres some backstory, I was in online school for 2 1/2 years and i recently was able to go back to a public school, and it happens to be that this public school has dreamspark, and allows me to get windows server, so this is awesome! but the server i run at the moment is a basic one.

Pentium g3258

Asus h81m-k

2 1tb WD Reds

a 2tb WD Green

1 refurbished 40gb seagate 7200 HDD(for windows boot(currently not in use))

a random 40gb drive from a ps3(for omv)

4gb of ram(upgrading to 8gb ~next week)

Heres what i want to do, my server currently runs OpenMediaVault(a linux based NAS os) and all my drives are formatted ext4, and i dont want to hassle with moving all that data(the 2tb holds backups and is full, The 2 wd reds is ~400gb full)so i plan to use VirtualBox to use the drives and slowly transition to windows server(if i can find a way for time machine to back up to it, UGH). There was also the idea to make it a router because i have 2 nics(the other one is a little old realtek pci-e) but its not necessary.

So finally the question.

What do i need to upgrade in the system to do the VM and Windows server?

Q2: What do i need to do the VM, Windows server, And a router VM?
