Hi Guys

What does the 4770s stands for is unlock or it lock

It's locked. It has also been downclocked a bit from the regular 4770 to lower its TDP.

The i7 4770S is a more power efficient CPU, it has a lower clock speed, turbo and voltage than a regular 4770 or 4770K, this would be great in a lower power gaming rig which may need to edit video or 3D work and has a locked multiplier so you can't really overclock the CPU. However there isn't an awful lot of point buying one, you would be better off with either the 4770 or 4770K.

I am pretty sure you could make a 4770 out of an 4770s. Also all 4770 have the same TB Frequency.

You can 'overclock' all cores on a non-K haswell processors to these maximum Turbo Boost frequency (don't no if this is only possible with Z87 boards though)

Yeah as others mentioned the 4770s isn't unlocked, I would suggest going to some think like the 3770k If you have not purchased your motherboard yet. If you over clock the 3770k you can easily match the performance of the 4770k... And save a little..
