How are the colors when not comparing them to IPS or PLS monitors. Is it still an enjoyable experience?

->Terrible<->OK<->Normal<->Good<->Accurate<-

Sorry for posting here a lot, I just don't want to have buyers regret after I buy a monitor. 1440P just takes to much power so I'm looking at 1080p 144Hz for gaming

So you took a jump from 1440p to 1080p 144hz?

Are you shooting for picture quality or framerate?

Edit: Taken from: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2421205,00.asp

"For the most part, the VG248QE is a solid performer. Its color accuracy wasn't terrible but it wasn't ideal either. As shown in the chromaticity chart below, the 1920 x 1080 TN panel produced oversaturated greens, but blues and reds were much closer to their CIE (International Commission On Illumination) coordinates. Greens did appear to be a bit heavy in my test photos but not heavy enough to cause tinting.

The VG248QE was able to display almost every shade of gray from the DisplayMate 64-Step Grayscale test, but darks shades of gray could have been a bit darker."

So "Solid performer" and better than average.

Yeah I've changed my mind about 1440p, It cost too much money.

Now just looking for a smother and more enjoyable experience so higher frame rates and if the photo quality is OK for gaming then that's it.

The only thing I find the most smoothed in 120/144hz over 60 hz is when moving the cursor on the screen.

Unless you're playing competitively where it's vital to get more frames, I'd say to get an IPS panel. It costs less and would look better meaning it would probably provide a better viewing experience.
