980 ti or ?

Coombzy

So, i'm thinking of grabbing a 980 ti around Christmas, but I'm still not sure. Nvidia might launch their next lineup a few months later. Is it worth buying or waiting?

Depends on what you need it for. I got a 980 and it seems plenty enough for me. Runs most games maxed out whilst powering another monitor (granted I only play on 1080p).

I'm thinking more of the life span of the card if its outdated a few months down the line by the next Nvidia flagship I don't see a point.

That's the thing though, technology always moves forward. It's up to you whether you think the next flagship will improve and is worth the extra money.

Also, a 980ti won't really be outdated. People still run 560's and seem to not have an issue. Don't really see why a 980ti will be outdated in a few months.

TI will most likely be later in the year. 1080 will probably be like 980 was to 780 TI around 10-15% performance increase. Even if it has that it will be the flagship that's why i'm debating on waiting.

They wont come out with the big guns at least until end 2016 that if you re lucky considering we are talking about a new process completely... anyway a 980ti will be more than enough for years to come. Of course if you dont mind waiting you can always wait a year or so for pascal specially if you re considering 4K gaming... if not than go 980ti :D

Unless you're only after flagship cards, it wouldn't matter if you get the 980ti now. Pascal won't be available til late 2016 and that's the reference card so far.
