Hard drive failure

Hi guys,

I was using my hard drive (Seagate expansion 1tb) today when it stopped working and displayed the error message : Damaged drive, unreadable (windows). Tried on another windows computer with same message. On mac however, I could read the drive (but not write due to NTFS format) and tried backing it up. About halfway through the backup it displayed an error message saying : an unknown error has occured -50. Tried searching online for solutions but didn't find anything.

Please help if you know what to do.

That thing's probably done for, sadly.

you can "DD" it over to another drive with linux, and see if you can recover data that way.

Oh well, at least you got half of you data off of it. Lesson learned, back up your important files.
