Nvidia releases more WHQL drivers but they are not always good, or they bring no real improvement whatsoever. AMD on the other hand improve performance on almost every driver, including betas. For comparison, when the 7950 came out in 2012 it was competing with a 660TI, now it's matching 670 and sometimes even 680 in terms of performance. Both AMD and Nvidia drivers are stable enough for most users right now.

Nvidia was first out with a offical driver for GTAV.

Purely drivers, they suck. Crashing and shit is very abundant and more so in win 10. AMD doesn't have much of those problems, but they don't push out as much updates as Nvidia which gives them the time to refine the drivers.  On the other hand, Nvidia has more refined features over AMD.

technically AMD had shorter lifecycle just because their drive

unless you new (i mean new to PC scene)

 

for example they just decide to abandon Radeon series (from original Radeon to X series) support for windows XP/Vista not even considering support for Windows 7

 

and then, same thing happen again with their HD series starting HD 2000-4000 in 2013

 

yes, those line up might be considered as "old" or "legacy" but if you still have something that works and usable you will not like that kind of thing.

honestly, they might do the same thing with HD 5000-7000 soon.

 

the worst part is their mobile GPU department, it just totally mess up

few laptop that I have to fix doesn't even doesn't have support from their driver page (which is HD 5530, HD 4340 and few HD with M in their codename) so I'm stuck with old driver provided by manufacturer.

 

if you have nvidia GPU, yes you might have hiccup, unperfect driver, buggy driver, but at least you can expect you have something to work on (or updates)

but ofcourse, within reasonable timeline, the last announce that I've read, they will stop supporting G92 chip (and lower) by the end of 2016

 

I still have few 8400GS and 9600series, although I just decide not upgrade driver at all since 2014 but if I want to upgrade it I have option to do that, specially if I'm going to throw new Windows OS into that old machines.

For Xbox 360 and PS3 it was released on the 17th of September 2013.

ok. but like i pointed out in my previous statement, everyone makes mistakes but nvidia tends to be slightly more consistent probably because they most likely have more employees working on drivers.

AMD manage to release a beta driver within a week after the release of a AAA title and most of the games that need an updated driver are GameNOTworks titles.

I've owned a 7770, 650 ti boost, 7870, 7870 LE, R9 280x on CF and a GTX 970. I don't understand people complaining about AMD's drivers and their multi-gpu solution since I've experienced both side of the camps. So if you're just an ordinary gamer that only does is game and nothing complicated, the perceived advantage of Nvidia over AMD regarding gpu drivers is negligible as of present. Maybe before nvidia is superior but things change and as of lately we've been hearing about nvidia's blunder regarding their gpus and gpu drivers and yet to most of you, in your eyes, nvidia can't do anything wrong. I'm not a fanboy of any of the camps, all I want is give credit to where credit is due and an appropriate response to failures or wrongdoings.
