390 vs 980

The other day I found out my r9280x was faulty and so I have to get a new GPU, I've narrowed it down to two options the r9390 and the 980 (both gigabyte g1 gaming) I don't want the 970 nor the 390x for various reasons so please don't suggest them. I want to play at 1080p Max setting in most games at a smooth 60fps, I play all kinds of games from civ5 to witcher 3 to NBA 2k. If you have a another GPU I could get that would be just make sure it doesn't run to hot or consume to much power. In terms of money I can afford either or.

390 would be fine in your situation.

Just don't pair it with a core 2 duo or FX CPU.

390 Gigabyte G1? Do not buy that.

 

In this case the 980 is the better way to go.

If you go the mad route get the sapphire or msi versions,they are cool and quiet

980 is overpriced, go for 390x or 390

 

What are your reasons for either not having enough performance or spending too much for performance when you could get a 390x

Heat, it can get warm in my room and power, I live in nz so unlike the USA power cost a bit more here.

I dont know what part of NZ your in but its bloody cold at the moment so heat isnt a bad thing lol
