Laptop for...

Friend is looking for a laptop that meets these requirements. She is going to an Animation Program Collage

• 15" to 17" monitor (15" if possible to big isnt really easy to carry for her)
• 1 TB hard drive, 8 GBs of RAM, running on a i7 quad core processor(There are i5's that is a quad core too right? If so can i5 Quad Core do)
• Latest HD graphics card that is Autodesk certified (e.g. nVidia 2000m); please use the link below for Autodesk compatible graphic cards:

She will not use it for anything else but school work. Cheapest is what she is looking for. She looking for brands from Asus, Toshiba, Samsung, Msi, but not necessary if price is the best. No Apple.

If you want a laptop with a gpu that is a quadro or firepro your buying a mobile workstation and thats not cheap. If you want to be cheap get a used think pad w520(quad i7 16gb ram quadro 2000m) for around 500. If you want new get something like  a dell m3800 or m4800 depending on if you want a thin a light laptop(m4800 is ultra thin)

Is there nothing else besides quadro/firepro class GPU? Can other GPU's cover the workload? I dont think that a Collage would require a Quadro for a Student that isnt yet a Profesional in Animation. So just to point it out again She's a still a Student. Mabe GTX 860m or something.

No, mobile quad cores only exist on i7s.

The only gpu's that they certify are quadro's and firepros. A regular gpu will work just fine and normally preform the same, yet in some apps anything non quadro preforms badly or doesn't support gpu acceleration at all.
