Which card is better?

So I have a i5 4690k good mobo and everything and was wondering if a Radeon r9 380 or if a r9 280x is better I'm leaning towards a 380 because it's newer and better supported or should I get the 280x?

380 has 8 asynchronous compute engines, while the 280x has 2. The 280x is slightly stronger in dx11, but it will get beaten by the 380 in dx12.

You already went for a pretty great build, step up to a 390. More future proof and it will face roll the 280x and 380.

380 for that vram that will be useful in the future or if you decide to play at higher res or higher texture quality.

Edit: but yeah if you can afford it get a 390/x to to go along nicely with your build.
