Case Fans

My next build in a Fractal Design R3 is going to be great but I want to swap out the case fans that came with it for some decent ones, any ideas? and also what are the ones that Linus really like, I think they are the brown ones?

The ones Linus raves about are the Noctua NF-F12s.

your thinking about NF-F12s. These fans optimized for static pressure and are recommended for use on radiators. There are options from noctua for airflow optimized fans aswell. .

Linus likes NF-F12's however they aren't great case fans.

Noctua NF-F12's. Those a mostly radiator optimized fans, but are also pretty good as case fans. The fans that comes with the R4 are pretty good though

If you want Noctuas, for a case fan the NF S12A would be best. If the front intake is a bit restrictive go for the NF P12.

I would get the Be Quiet! silent wings 2 fans as since the door blocks some of the air flow you need some static pressure and these fans make a good mix.

If you are buying that case new then get a Define R4 instead. It's the newer version. 

 

You should get Noctua A14 FLX fans instead of the Noctua F12S (Which Linus praises), they are bigger meaning they don't have to spin as fast to move the same amount of air. Also they have decent static pressure to overcome the dust filters. If you want to cheap out on fans then get Gelid Silent 14s instead.

I have two SP120 quiet edition in my R4 right now. I don't notice they're there at 12v through case controller.

The blind Noctua following isn't as bad as you think lol
