I have a Gateway GT5662, and I am adding a Geforce GTX 760 to it.  I saw on the PC specs that it has a PCI Express interface, and the card supports PCI Express 3.0.   I don't know if there is any difference to them.  Also, the graphics card supports a 500 W power supply, and with this computer, I can't find the power supply information.

Will I be able to add a newer graphics card to this machine?

Thank you.

Here are the specs on Newegg. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883113044

And CNet.  http://www.cnet.com/products/gateway-gt5662/specs/

Both don't contain information about the power supply.

Look into the PC and look what is written on the PSU itself. It should say how many watts it supports.

Holy.. That system is too old. DDR2. There's no point of getting a GPU for it. The system is old.

I know, but I have a 760 lying around and thought about putting it into use.  I just want to know if it will work.

Since the 2400xt it came with appears to use the similar setup I have to assume it will work. One never completely knows though until you try.

I don't think it's worth it.
