Mac wifi sharing

I live on campus now and there is no wifi coverage in my room and my rougher setup does not work for me.

I am currently sharing wifi over wifi to my phone, tablet ,etc from a wired connection.

My question is can i secure this wifi that my laptop broadcasts?

Or is there no need because anyone who connects just gets internet and my computer and its files are safe.

Which OS?

Do you have it set up though System Preferences > Sharing > Internet Sharing ?

they can get to your computer if they want to. 

I think you can setup a password for your wifi is the mac settings
