GTX 750Ti can't. For the most part, you need to look for the SLI "fingers". If it has them, it can SLI with another card that has the same GPU and same amount of vRAM.

Also, some cards, such as the 970 are limited to a certain number (below 4). You can only put 3 970s in SLI, for example.

They don't need to have the same amount of vram. I have a 2gb and a 4gb card and it works fine

overall, generally the x60 cards can do 2-way sli, x70 cards 3way, and x80(and above) 4way.

that's not correct, a 760 for example can do 3 way as @avark stated

Did they change it again? Last time I checked, they had changed it so that the cards had to have the same amount of vRAM to work.

EDIT: @Tycho nope, looks like they still have the memory must be the same rule according to their site http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/guides/introduction-to-sli-technology-guide#4

I don't know if it's a hard rule, or just something that's not officially supported. Both these forum posts seem to indicate the former

Yes, but this changes, if it's a full architectural jump (400, 600, 900 series) it's:

x50: 2 way

x60: 2 way

x70: 3 way

x80: 4 way

x90: 2 way

When it is not a full jump (500, 700 series):

x50: No.

x60: 3 way (if it's a rebrand like 700 series, otherwise 2)

x70: 4 way (if it's not a rebrand then 3)

x80: 4 way
