i need a server to connect to a network for windows sharing but i dont need internet on that port as it interferes with some programs running

so is there a way of disabling internet access without disconneting it completely

the link in the diagram is indacated by the red link connecting to switch #2

switch and router #1 are static ip's for hosting web services

I think you may be able to achieve this by setting a static ip address in your network connection properties but don't set it a default gateway.

could i block access via the second router as the router still needs to share the servers ip with client pc's

not entirely sure tbh. It may be possible but you would have to check the router documentation as they are all different. By the looks of your network map, the server will still have access to the internet via switch 1.

Not entering a gateway in your server internet connection properties should still allow the client machines to be able to connect to it. It just wont know where to look for internet access.

Wont it still get internet access through switch 1 if you just block it on switch 2?

I would try my first suggestion. Statically assign the servers network connection (use the same ip address as it has right now) and leave the gateway empty. If anyone else can weigh in to say if this would work but it is the only idea that I can think of.

If the OP is trying to force the computer to have all internet traffic going over one NIC, then this is eaxctly the way to do that. The computer will always send traffic that isn't present in one of it's immediate networks (based on the IP address and subnet mask) to it's default gateway. If more than one default gateway is assigned, it will pick one. You can also set priorities on the default gateways so that it prefers one, but uses the second if the first is not available.

Looking to buy GTX690, other multi-GPU cards, or single-slot graphics cards:
