What I have so far to go with
MSI Z170 Krait Gaming ATX LGA1151

Crucial Ballistix Sport x2 of these

i7-6700k 2133 ram speed max

now the ram I am looking at buying is 2400 speed and 1.2 volts like the 2133 but the ram will only run at 2133 as I know
Should this cause any problems?

and if not would it just be better to get the 1 stick of 8GB or the 2 of 4GB that is on sale ?
I wont need more than 8 GB so what should I do ?

Ithink you will have to OC to achieve 2400MHz which wouldbe no problem. The RAM is just said to savely run at leas 2400MHz out of the box(that is as far as my knowledge goes)

the ram is compatible at 2133....That doesn't mean it will run at that speed it's just the highest compatible speed without overclocking. 2400GHz memory is binned to run at that speed, and your first xmp profile will probably be at that speed.

Any high speed memory is going to require an overclock, but it will run at the speed the overclock demands unless you're doing something very weird with your boot strap.

I will be overclocking the Processor as I will be installing the H110IGT on the processor. Should I have to worry about Degrading the memory controller?

Thank you for your help. I'm just trying to save the money so I can afford the ram, mobo and Cooler all at once.

I don't think so. It is probably build to suit OC or it has no effect at all (idk anything about this but never heard about mem ctrl problems)

In that case just buy the 2133.... Unless you're using integrated graphics then memory speed will only have a marginal effect, and definitely not enough to justify the price increase.

This is purely my opinion, but we sort of got used to monstrous overclocks with x99....

Skylake in my opinion isn't an overclockers chip. There is minimal headroom to stick more voltage trough it, and while most chips are capable of a 20% OC with minimal voltage increases there is no real advantage to sticking more voltage through these chips.

then yes pick up the cheaper 2400. At stock speeds the heat spreader on ram is purely aesthetic. it only becomes a real part when you start pumping more voltage through it, and the part runs hot.

EDIT: and take a quick peek at crucial. When my supplier dicked me around on my corsair domms, I picked up a cheep set of crucial 2133's They were literally the cheapest thing I could find in Australia.

with that said would it be safe to pump more voltage into the processor for the 6700k ?

It is, and it isn't. I'd take a look around various sites to get a good idea of what people have done with skylake overclocking, but from what I've seen 20% is pretty normal, and it doesn't improve much when you increase the voltage.

2 sticks, to take advantage of dual channel. And save the purchase page. you'll want the same ram sticks when you upgrade.
