I have a $2,000 budget to buy a new gaming PC. I would love to see what rigs you guys come up with!

I just need a PC, no monitor, mouse, etc.

Preferences: SSD, Windows, Nvidia GPU.

I plan on using this to run games such as Witcher 3, Fallout 4, and Total War.

Dual GTX 980s, M.2 SSD, 4690k with cooler to overclock with, even some headphones. You can get Windows off G2A or /r/hardwareswap.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

wellp, what do you plan on doing exactly?

a gaming rig for minecraft is entirely different from a gaming rig for asscreep:unity.

also, add in some personal preferences like window/no window, CD drive? nvidia/amd, extra sound card, etc.

I went for a build that isn't the biggest and fastest bang for the buck (at least for gaming), but it will last you longer. 1000W PSU is OVERKILL; however, it gives you the option to throw another 980TI in here down the road.

i'm gonna suggest something along these lines

- skylake i5, will clock trough the roof even on air.

- beefy noctua cooler, nice and quiet

- msi krait motherboard, kind of a personal preference at this point.

- 16GB ram, might as well prepare for more RAM intensive stuff in the future, and you can carry it over to a future system because DDR4

- 250GB samsung 850 evo, kinda standard, replace with preferred brand if needed.

- 2TB seagate barracuda, same as before, just swap out with the brand you like most

- a single 980Ti, because i personally REALLY dont like SLI/crossfire.

- fractal design define R5 master race.

- corsair 750 watt power supply (platinum), the corsair ones seem to be doing really good for everyone i know.

- didnt bother with an ODD, add in if you're retro.

- just put on windows 8.1, replace with your favourite flavour.

pre-post edit: as i get ninja'd by a similar build, mine is notably cheaper tho.

Feel free to change the mobo as you see fit since I couldn't seem to find many on pcpartpicker and Asus enjoys making particularly bad looking motherboards. Edited my build...disregard this.

as a fan of asus products, i'm sad to say you're right.

if you're not shelliing over wads of cash, they look rather poopy. (winkwink they're brown PCBs)

i got to like the MSI krait looks.

I really like the M Power motherboards from MSI. Then again black/yellow is my favorite color combination so others may not feel the same.

i personally dont really go for a color scheme, i kinda like to find parts that go together without needing a color scheme.

(spoiler alert: i'm planning on a ketchup/mustard build to annoy kyle)
