So, dolphin emulator. I want to play wind waker but i dont have a gamecube (I have the game though) so i found that dolphin emulator is one of the best emulators but they dont really say specs on there website (Or at least i dont see them) so im wondering if anyone knows what the minimum specs to run it are.

also, do i need a remote to play? and if i do how am i supposed to get a gamecube controller to work?

and ive never used a emulator. Are they difficult to install? someone said that you just extract the .rar and put the ISO into it. Is that it or is there more? (I plan to read the directions but if you have any tips or if i have problems i will ask here instead of a all new thread.

thanks.

This is what I have found. http://www.emulation64.com/guides/20/3/

The CPU part is a bit cryptic.

As an avid user of emulators (for old games that are no longer buyable or games I personally own), I think I can adequately answer all your questions.

The specs of the Dolphin emulator are semi-high, among emulators. At least from my experience. You would want a dual core at about 3.0GHz with at least 4GB of RAM. Integrated GPU is fine depending on the CPU. My Intel HD 4000 runs the Dolphin pretty well.

No, you can use the keyboard. Just go into the settings, to gamepads/controllers and change them accordingly. You can hook up any controller (USB ones primarily) and play with that by assigning the commands in the same section to those buttons the same way you do it with a keyboard. By clicking the button to be assigned, then pressing the button/key you want it assigned to.

No. Not usually at least. It is usually just a .exe file that you copy/paste. Some, many in fact, do not even need installation and just keep the registry edits in a text file rather than in the actual registry, meaning your installation is portable.

Extracting the .rar is simple and you can put the ISO anywhere on your computer. You will just have to find it again when you want to run the game.

i am not sure about the specs needed to run it fine but i think you can map buttons to your keyboard on every emulator. seems pointless not having one.

I read CAN'T :p it might be easier with the controller. Will cost about as much as buying a gamecube though :p

Do you own a PS3 controller? Motionjoy may be what you want.

Do you own a PS2 controller? PS2 to USB adapters are like $1-$5.

Do you own an Xbox 360 controller? They natively plug into PC's, IIRC.

Etc etc.

All emulators that I have ever used (which is pretty much most of the trusthworthy/well developed/good ones) have had the keyboard as the default input device. So yeah. Should not be a problem.

But for the love of God, do not even bother trying to play Wii games unless you have all the hardware to make it work. Yes, you can play the Wii with all the hardware. I have the Wii motes, an IR sensor, a Bluetooth adapter for my PC, and I can play Wii on it if I want.

However, I do not own any Wii games, so I cannot play them legally. I just set it up once to see if it would work. I have all of the hardware because people like to give me their old, broken, electronics which includes a Wii and all the peripherals. The Wii is broken, but not the peripherals.

I can just tell you, emulating a Wii is tough on a PC. My 3570k cannot handle it well on it's own and Wii emulation, in and of itself, is pretty bad right now. Think 10-20FPS with graphical artifacts.

And I cannot even imagine trying to do it with a keyboard. So many unintuitive controls. Ugh.

deffo easier with a controller. i had a hard time with KH2 on a ps2 emulator. and it was sped up because normal speed would lag on my q8400 that time

KH2 in general would be hard if it is sped up. I cannot imagine fighting Sephiroth with time to react running at a faster pace. That would suck.

But yeah, controllers are preferred, but it is definitely doable with a keyboard on most games.

there were some areas where normal speed was bearable but i wanted to play KH2 so bad i had to learn how to deal with it. at least KH2 ran fine. i couldn't play KH1. speaking of, i accidentally deleted my ISOs when i reformatted. sad me.

I still have two copies of KH1 and one copy of KH2. :)

Kingdom Hearts is my favorite franchise, so it would be silly if I did not own them. Pre-ordered KH1.5 remix and cannot wait to play it. :D Never got to play 358/2 days so that will be fun to watch. ... I hate Chain of Memories' card system though, so that might be a bit annoying replay through.

Ah, yeah Darkside was difficult. Particularly since only his head and hands could be damaged, so a kid would not know what to attack.  Unless you meant Guard Armor in Traverse Town.

Go back and play it if you can. Or play the HD remix. KH1 is the best in the series in my honest opinion.

Nice. :D I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. In all honesty, I feel a little sad you are going to experience it in this order. Knowing where certain things come from by playing BBS, the first game will not be a new experience like it was for those who played it first. It is fine, but there was just an air of mystery in regards to a lot of things in KH1 that was dispelled in BBS. That added to the game imo, so playing it after BBS will make it a different experience for you.

Oh well, I am sure you will enjoy it regardless.

Yeah... ISOs being large makes stuff like that annoying. :P I use torrents usually (Antivirus scan before opening of course) simply because I hate downloading ISOs in parts.

Good choice. I love twilight princess even though I have not ever played it. It is the "atmosphere" of the game. The more adult, gritty style as compared to Wind Waker's childish style.

TPB is trustworthy if you use common sense to gauge a torrent. If it has a lot of seeders and few leechers, it is usually safe. Skim the comments for buzzwords like "Virus" "Fake" etc.

That is how I do it anyway.
