Google has been completely absent from China since 2010, except for Android OS, of course, but Google plans to officially reenter the mainland Chinese market sometime soon. With their return they will sell mobile services with the approval of the Chinese government. Google plans to give mainland Chinese consumers a stripped down version of the Play Store. They have to do it this way because of certain restrictions that China has set in place.

Google supposedly already has partnerships with certain Chinese companies to help architect and run the China version of the Play Store. If we're referring to phone companies, I think it's safe to say that Xiaomi could play a very big role. Same goes for Oppo, Lenovo, Huawei, and some of the other popular Chinese phone makers. Google is also preparing to announce a special version of Android Wear for the Chinese market

To help their plan grow, Google will offer incentives to OEMs for keeping their devices up to date with the latest version of Android. This is to attract more consumers and application developers towards those phones.

If Google decides to go through with this plan, which, let's be honest, they more than likely will, they could be ready to reenter the Chinese market as early as this fall.

The government wants as few people as possible finding out alternatives to an authoritative state.

Maybe thats why the UAE acts like that as well. I couldnt call my family when i went there on holiday as services like Viber were blocked by the government

Honestly, i do hate Arab countries when it comes to law, especially in Saudi Arabia,

Despite being Muslim myself, i dislike their laws< e.g it is ridiculous to ban women from driving when most drivers in a lot of other countries are women

Applies to democratic governments in some cases as well. Look at Russia's "democratic" system. :P
