Can't speak to the quality or value of the surveillance system (Security is alarms and notification), but WD Purple drives are designed for this purpose. Might be a better idea than the Seagate NAS drives.

are they 24/7 drives? i plan on using this all the time...not recording all the time, but vieweing all the time ,and recording when necessary

WD Purples are designed for continuous use (specifically for multiple video feed recording).

Unless the Seagate NAS drives are datacenter quality they won't be rated for continuous use.

I bought that exact mouse at my local dollarstore for $4. It broke 2 months later. Also lights up red and blue if I remember correctly.

that mouse price is less than a dollar here.

anyway, yes, get SAS Drive, doesn't matter which brand you choose, just pick SAS drive. not NAS drive, or green drive.

We use milestone software, a bit expensive but it works really well !

We also build a server for it with fast sas storage, makes it easy to replay the captured video etc.
