Hello

I have a computer i7 4790K with 16gb 2133 DDR3, and a GTX660.

I am going to upgrade the gpu.  I was going to buy a GTX980ti but have some questions.

I plan to build a 2nd computer with a i7 5820k.  Both computers will be used for some gaming, graphic design, 3D design and rendering, movie making and music production.

The i7 5820k will be used to do the heavy rendering.

I will use 1440p monitors with each of them.  Maybe, maybe a 144 1440p monitor once the Asus IPS one comes out.

Should I use a 980 for the i7 4790k one and the 980ti for the i7 5820K system?  Or get 980ti for both?

The productivity software I use takes advantage of the more cuda cores and vram, the better.

Hello I would get a quadro,

but some of the software I use takes better advantage of the GTX series more than a quadro.

gtx series usually has higher price to performance ratio

but im pretty sure rendering softwares will more likely to support quadros

unless you use windows movie maker or something

Also I have a question to go along with this. I have a 780ti is their a point for me getting a quadro because I do edit stuff alot but will it make a more dramatic change than the 780ti rendering? I've just always wanted to know this.

Taran should run for president!

No movie maker the 3D rendering software works better with the GTX cards with lots of cuda and vram.

Don't want Quadro because will use the computer for multiple purposes.

some gaming, graphic design, 3D design and rendering, movie making and music production

gaming=GTX

movie making/graphc design/3d designing/rendering/CAD/music prodction=Quadro.....

I see you wanting to lean to GTX but all the things you want to do with this PC it just leans more towards a quadro

yeah then i guess the 980ti should serve you well with its 6gb vram

but if you have like huge models then id say go for titan x's 12gb vram

To get the amount of Cuda cores in a Quadro that I can get in a GTX980 or 980ti,  I would need to spend over 1000 dollars for a quadro card. 2000 dollars.

If I was using CAD software than I would go for a quadro

I am using non CAD programs.  I can 3D designing and rendering with character, scene, spaceships, etc type of designing.  CAD is more for engineering and things like that.
