Win 10 and G3258 Issues

woodman_victory
Go to solution Solved by dukethedj,

Turn off oc and if it still does not work disable one core and update the bios to latest if you haven't already.

So as maybe some of you dont know the G3258 has troubel with overclocking with windows 10. From what i read most of these issues only affected the H series boards. But as I found out it appears to also affect atleast my G41 PC Mate which is a Z87 board. My G3258 is OC'd to 4.0Ghz using the auto-OC mode. And when i try to install windows it will get almost to the end before saying it crashes and failed to install in the i belive 'safe boot OS' part. I have gotten this error both times i have tried to install.

And so I am unsure on how to continue or fix the issue. Should i try turing off the OC and try upgrading?

CPU: Pentium G3258 OC 4.0GHz MOBO: MSI Z87-G41 PC MATE GPU: ASUS Strix Gtx-750Ti 2Gb RAM: 2x4Gb ADATA XPGv2 @ 1866Mhz PSU: EVGA 500B HDD: 500Gb WD Scorpio Black, 1Tb WD Blue

I am to lazy to update this, but not to lazy to strike it out and write this.

You are on a need to know basis, and you don't need to know.

I will try it without the OC, but i really woudl prefer to keep it when i upgrade since it is a rather important thing for my low spec rig. And i can pssibly hope to use my PC to game(its main funtion) with a single core. As for upgrading a BIOS it is something  ishoudl get to doing, but i scared ill fuck it up and brick my PC.

My sister has Asrock H97 ITX/Ac and disabling a core to install and than updating the bios worked. I then re-enabled all cores.

So I turned off the core and the OC and installed it.

I tried then renableling the core and it did not start. So i assume my best bet is to now flash the BIOS something i have never wanted to do out of fear of me mucking it up and bricking my PC. e3c7199a83.png

Here is my motherboard just to prove it is a Z87 a1d7f13333.png
