WIndows Update

Hi guys,

 

I'm new to the PC industry and I'm trying to understand "the workings" as much as I can. My default drive is my SSD, but it continues to be filled with Windows Update files that it's becoming more of an inconvenience rather than an asset. Is there anyway I can redirect the updates to my HDD (Which is by the way, way bigger than my SSD).

 

Looking for any help.

Also, Windows 8 has a much smaller footprint but i don't want the hate from recommending windows 8

unfortunately theres no way to redirect the update files since they will save to your os drive

I liked 8.1 more than 7, then again I had a tablet and a convertible laptop along with my desktop so it made a lot of sense.

Can try Disk Clean up as your Windows update takes up double the space it states.

One to install, and another for back up encase you want to revert back the update. Windows 8 should do this automatically but can take up to 30 days to complete it.

Could also remove older system restores using CCleaner.

Doing all of this won't save huge chunks but you should at least save 2-5GB of space.
