In my brothers old build which he gave to our mom, my brother used a Seasonic 660w 80+gold PSU. ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151104) Its been running in that PC probably 4-5 years now with only 1  possible known issue while in use. It is clean and still functional my question is would it be a bad idea to take this pus out of her pc and swap it for my 620 80+ bronze PSU. I want it because its modular her PC has phenom 2 CPU and a 5850 so its not really heavy usage and she doesn't do anything on it but play facebook. Would i be better off just buying a new PSU or switching to this older but possibly better one

there probably is a way but i'm not familliar with it. I would hazard a guess at around 550-600W with the degradation of the PSU being in-mind

Its never had "heavy" use but it has had daily usage for going on 5 years. Would a factory refurbished psu be okay?

it will degrarde nonetheless, but at a slower rate i presume

it probably would, as long as the original manufacturer has given it the seal of approval then it should be fine

I don't see why not. I still have 250W PSUs from decades ago still going strong on my network drive.
