Hi all,

I've been running GTA V on an almost constant 60fps (not less than 40 even in countryside) for a while now, but recently (about 2 weeks ago) I started experiencing considerable fps drops, pretty much for no reason (I didn't change any settings) of my doing. So I guess it had to be drivers and decided to wait. After about 2 days, the game started running at proper 60fps again, and I did not update or rollback any drivers - it happened by itself.

I decided to have fun again when the latest patch (I'm sorry I don't remember the 1.2x designation, but it downloaded around 74MB for the patch) came and my problems are back. I'm unable to ever even touch anything above 47fps even in closed environments like the safehouses. Pretty much anywhere else on the outside it always sticks between 28fps and 37fps.

I tried playing around with the VSync options, no result. Tried applying Gefore Exp optimal settings, no result. I don't know what to do.

I'm running it on an i7-4790k, GTX970, 16GB RAM system. It's installed on a WD Enterprise edition 7200rpm HDD where all my other games are. The Windows 10 64-bit OS runs on a 120GB SSD as it always has. None of my other games are having any performance issues. Currently my OS is up to date and GPU drivers are the 355.60 WHQL, which GeForce Exp says is the latest.

Please help.

Your system can certainly handle the game. As cliche as this sounds, you should try reinstalling the game (although GTA V is giant) because there may be some file errors.

When did you update to Windows 10? You said the problems started a couple weeks ago and that could possibly be the issue.

Is there any kind of file integrity check I can perform without having to reinstall the game?

I actually installed GTA V on my system AFTER updating to Windows 10.

Assuming you acquired the game on steam, I'd suggest verifying the cache. Another suggestion I have is trying out other games and seeing if they are having FPS drops as well. If this is the case, there may be a program running in the backround (likely anti-virus software) that is impeding your computer's ability.

No, I bought it at a store and it does not show up in Steam library. I wonder if RGSC has some file integrity checker?

As I said in the OP, none of my other games are having any FPS drops.

However what you said did ring a bell - I recently installed Kaspersky AV (after GTA V), while I don't see any obvious connection (bcuz the other games are fine), I will

try to disable it and see if that solves anything.

Alright, let me know if that helps.

Well, tried that and it didn't help.

Also downloaded the latest Nvidia drivers (355.82 WHQL) that just came out this evening. No change in fps levels.

Only way to increase fps seems to further tone down the settings so that the game uses barely 2800mb out of the available 4000mb VRAM (although I never took it above 3500mb because of the 3.5GB VRAM issue with 970). But it's disappointing to have a capable system and not be able to run a game that used to run

flawlessly before.

If you didn't re-install the game when you upgraded to win 10, there is your issue most likely.

I had some fps issues as well after getting win 10, but re-installing the game fixed those.

As I already replied to another member, I installed GTA V on my system AFTER updating to Windows 10.
