So, I was just listening to Spotify on my galaxy s6 edge, and zero audio Carbo tenores (which are holding me over until 1964 gets around to building my in ears... Hurry the f up!!!) anyway, I was listening to this song: guys like you make us look bad, by blessthefall. Anyway, it's some kind of metal (which I'm not particularly familiar with, the mood just struck me.) and at about 1:15, there is a major instance of clipping.

Now, there is no way I could see this as being my phones amp, since it's currently at about 40% volume. So is this just the way it was mixed, or would going up to a higher bit rate do anything? The clipping isn't super obvious, but it's very jarring for me, and I kinda like the song. Was it just mixed that way? I can't imagine a sound/mixing engineer would have missed something so glaring.

Hey! New SIgnature!

I'm supposedly a person on the Internet, but you'll never know if I'm human or not ;)

Listen to the same song through spotify on a computer maybe? That way you will know if it is your phone or just the song on spotify.

Is

the exact source you used? I hear it too in the singer's voice when he screams at 1:15 so it's probably in the mixing. It's likely not something they intended to put in, it might just be due to the compression.

Edit: Oh yeah, OK. You were on spotify.

Yup :) and, to my knowledge, Spotify uses pretty good codecs for their music... And I stream at extreme quality, whatever that means... (I know it's 320kbps, I just think it's silly that they call it extreme, when, in the scheme of things, It's not that high of quality...)

I'll give that a go tomorrow. My mom is sleeping in the other room at the moment, and that where my laptop is...
