So, my pc has worked fine for over one year. Today I go to a lan party(pc laying down in the back of the car), and after about 6 hours of gaming, the psu starts smelling littke bit like burning plastic, and soon shuts down. I thought it overheated because of dust buildup, ad put the pc outside for a while to cool down. I try again, and after minutes of gaming, it smells little bit stronger this time and shuts down.

The psu in question is corsair cx750m. It has a bad reputation, but it shouldn't just die off like that? Pc still boots, but i'm a little scared to keeo it on for too long. I have not dusted it in a while, but it has run fine at my home, being on for over 12 h. I haven't been gaming for that long in a while though, so that might be it.

So, what should I do? Should I make a warranty claim, or is this something outside its warranty? Or would I be better off just buying better psu?

Specs:

Psu: Corsair CX 750M

CPU: i5 4670k

GPU: gtx 760

Case Zalman Z11 plus

Cpu cooler: cooler master 212 evo

get another psu from another brand like evga/seasonic

if you rma the psu, they'll probably give you another cx750m which might have the same ending as the one you already have
