Whats the difference between the full converter boxes that are like 50$ (cad) with the imputs and outputs or the cables that go from hdmi to rca witch are like 5$ (cad)

The HDMI to RCA needs to be an active converter the cables don't converter anything and are just a pass through that don't work since it's a digital to analog signal.

Would there be alot of input lag on these devices? Iam just looking to watch movies on the tv and play basic games on steam like starwars lego or south park stick of truth?

The cables that terminate with different connectors on each end don't do anything. RCA is analogue and HDMI is digital, so they need an active adapter/converter.

It shouldn't be too bad, if even noticeable. For TV it's perfectly fine, and for those sorts of games it will be okay too.

I can't really see a reason for them to work, to be honest. Just like HDMI to VGA, DP to VGA and so on.

 

Hell, for all we know it could just be a marketing scheme where people that don't know jack buy them, they don't work, then end up buying the expensive converters instead without bothering to ask for a refund for that $3 cable
