Whole Computer Slowdown ( except partially gaming)

Go to solution Solved by kameshss,

even after a reformat? alright.

Yeah may be.

Because when you install some s/w, it'll come with Adwares and may be malwares too.

If you have downloaded it from Torrents sites, there is a chance that it may be injected with Virus and stuffs.

So that I'm asking you to do that.

If you haven't installed any S/w after fresh installation, then you might try a fresh Installation again

OS

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Specs

P8Z77-M Pro Motherboard (fully updated bios)

Intel i7 3770k (not overclocked)

2 x 8GB DDR3  Corsair VengeanceLP

AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series

WD Blue 500GB

Problem

Ever since I got my old pc which I gave to my brother and only until recently I have gotten it back I immediately noticed a huge slowdown in performance. i'm talking about when opening/moving a browser or trying to close it the program stops responding. The same problem has been happening with mostly to all programs in one way or another. after trying to deal with this mess I finally reformatted the hard drive and reinstalled windows to see if that fixes the problem. After installing all the drivers again, the problem was still there. So I ended up updating my BIOS to see if that would fix it but it didn't. At first I thought it was my failing hard drive but I downloaded HD Sentinal and it said my hard drive was 100% Healthy. But I don't trust that so I'm running a diagnostic tool that WD supplies consumers and i'm running an extended test to see if theirs problem even though  their standard test said my hdd was "OK".

it seems though before I did the reformat games would crash suddenly (Payday 2 and Runescape) but now after the format I played Black Ops 3 Beta and had no problems, but still having fps and loading issues with Runescape

What does the Disk usage in task manager look like? Windows processes and anti-viruses can slow your computer to a craw when it's constantly accessing drives. Especially for Hard drives.

Could be a bad install of windows or a bad drive

thinking its the drive, couldn't be windows because the before format still had the problem as with the after format windows

It could still be windows. try reinstall a 3rd time and see if that works.

Then test the HDD's and SSD's then replace bad ones.

should have expanded more, my bad :P

the computer is 2.5 years old and when I had it under my care (1 year or so) this problem was not here. But i'll test the hdd with a new one. I just have to ask my dad to get a replacement for mine.

mhm, Just trying to figure out the whole computer slowdown. might try a windows repair to see if theres a problem

Check for Malware/Virus.

Use ADWCLEANER and Malwarebytes.

It may escalate some issues.

I don't remember if Windows 7 has something similar to this within Task Manager. Haven't used Windows 7 much ever since 8 came out. But when that disk usage goes to 100%, expect slow downs especially if you're on a hard drive.
