Does anybody on here have any experience with Lightspeed Communications? My father just discovered it and it looks fairly appealing, especially the prices. However some reviews online are saying that their customer service is not too good, that it sometimes takes a while to get the connection set up, and speeds are occasionally not as advertised.

I would like to try them out, but need some more opinions first. Thanks!

I'm not sure if it's just me being used to higher standards in the US, but the website looks really crappy and shady.

And if they're linked to LightSpeed Systems, which is a company who supplies proxies for school/businesses, fuck them.

They blocked the most stupidest things like "Yahoo Answers", forums; LTT included, and other top 10 websites that pop up first within a generic google search.

I found out that they didn't block many porn sites though.

Fucking stupid as shit Lightspeed.

I mean who blocks Yahoo Answers?

And from my experience, all ISPs are the same in every developed country except for South Korea.

Since competition is so severe there, you get high speeds with no throttling for dirt cheap prices.

If not, you pay a shit ton of money for low quality service.

This is the site in question. Not quite as shady and terrible looking as the first one you posted, but not great either.

my school uses light speed, but we find out the username and passwords anyways. And they use webmaster, but there for blocking sites, meh you would you need that? Out ISP is Cox and they they light speed and webmaster on it.

I don't know prices @ Canada, but judging by the looks of it (And that you're going to use ADSL not Cable), the 50mbps plan seems the most qualified plan, unless you can live with crap upload speeds. Cable doesn't seem worth the money at all.

25.0 Mbps

3.0 Mbps 325 Gigs $5.00/mo $44.95/mo 50.0 Mbps

10.0 Mbps 325 Gigs $5.00/mo $64.95/mo http://www.lightspeed.ca/personal/ratesadsl.html#table

But Canada... Man.

They can still do business with a crappy website like this?

My statement from another comment stays.

Any ISP will continue to rip you off in every way possible. This ISP's first impression makes me think that your experience won't be good.

Even if you're dissatisfied with your current ISP, stay there.

Things won't change.

Our company has some fiber circuits with golightspeed.com in Michigan, US and we like it, but that appears to be a different company from both the Lightspeed Communications in Canada, and the LightSpeed Systems.
